CARD-TO-CRYPTO ROUTE
No card slot at checkout? Fund a wallet instead.
Kiwi Peps clears orders by NZ bank transfer or crypto, not card. If crypto suits you better, this page walks a first-timer through turning a New Zealand-issued Visa, Mastercard or Apple Pay balance into the coin we accept, screen by screen.
Why go card-to-crypto at all?
Most Kiwi shoppers simply pay by NZ bank transfer through ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank or TSB, quoting the Kiwi Peps Reference Number on their order. If your bank doesn't suit or you'd rather pay in crypto, a card-funded wallet gets you there in one extra hop: buy crypto with your card, then send it exactly the way you'd send any other crypto payment.
Licensed on-ramps
Regulated providers handle ID checks and card security, not us.
Fast turnaround
Crypto usually lands in your wallet within 5–10 minutes.
Wide card support
Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay all work.
WALKTHROUGH
Top up a wallet with a New Zealand card
Set up a self-custody wallet
Choose a wallet that holds the coin you'll send us. Any of these are free and take a couple of minutes to set up:
MetaMask
ETH and NZDT-style stablecoins (ERC-20 / BEP-20)
Phantom
Solana, Ethereum and Bitcoin support
Trust Wallet
Mobile app, supports BTC / ETH / stablecoins
Coinbase Wallet
Self-custody, straightforward for beginners
Write your recovery phrase down and store it offline — it's the only way to restore the wallet.
Pick a card on-ramp inside your wallet
MetaMask and Phantom both have a card on-ramp built in, so you can buy crypto with a Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay balance without opening a separate exchange account.
MetaMask
Tap Buy, choose card, crypto arrives in seconds
Phantom
Tap Buy, card checkout is built into the app
Complete a one-time ID check
The first card purchase asks for photo ID — a NZ driver licence or passport — plus a quick selfie. It takes about 2–3 minutes and only happens once. Future top-ups skip this step.
Buy the amount your order needs
Your Kiwi Peps order shows a total in NZD plus the matching amount in BTC, ETH or a stablecoin. Buy that exact figure in your wallet — nothing extra required.
Example
Order total: $120 NZD → buy $120 worth of stablecoin and send it.
Send the crypto to your order address
Place your order on kiwipeps.co.nz. The payment screen shows a QR code and wallet address for the coin you chose. Open your wallet, hit Send, paste the address (or scan the QR), enter the amount and confirm.
Check the first and last four characters of the address before sending — crypto transfers can't be reversed.
Order queued for Bench-Ready Dispatch
Once the network confirms your transaction, usually within a couple of minutes, your order is marked paid automatically. Orders confirmed by our 2pm NZT cutoff go out same working day via tracked NZ Post CourierPost — free on orders over NZD $100.
Fees, limits and timing

| Card maximum | $2,000 / day (typical) | Higher limits after full ID verification |

Common questions
Why doesn't Kiwi Peps take cards directly?+
Card networks restrict research-chemical sales as a category, so we settle by NZ bank transfer or crypto instead. Buying crypto with a card and forwarding it gets the same result with one extra step.
Which coin should I buy?+
A stablecoin on a low-fee network is usually cheapest and fastest to send. Bitcoin and Ethereum also work but carry higher network fees.
Is my card information safe?+
Yes — your card details go straight to the regulated on-ramp, never to Kiwi Peps. We only see the incoming crypto transaction.
What if I send the wrong amount?+
Underpaid? Top up the difference from the same wallet. Overpaid? Message support and we'll credit the balance to your account.
Does a prepaid or virtual card work?+
Most on-ramps accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. Some prepaid cards are blocked — try a debit card instead if a prepaid card is declined.
